DIRECTIVES TO FORWARD TECHNICAL ARTICLES TO O PAPEL MAGAZINE 

 

 

O Papel journal, published by ABTCP - Brazilian Pulp and Paper Technical Association -, is the most important publication of the pulp and paper sector in Latin America. Papers submitted will be reviewed by the local editor-in-chief and fellow peers designated by the editor (who will remain anonymous to the author). 


In order to submit an article, click on the “New Authors” link (on the menu to your left), fill in the registration form and, after validating your registration by e-mail, enter your login and access the Technical Articles/New menu to send your file. Authors registered in this management system may monitor the evaluation status of their articles and will be informed of each new stage in the revision process.


The publishers of O Papel reserve the right to make small changes in the texts to conform it to the magazine’s layout standards. Any change at the technical level will be communicated in advance to the author.

 

How to format your article – basic definitions 

The article should be composed in Word format, with the body of the text in font type/size Arial 12, with the title in type/size Arial 14, and figures, graphs, and tables in open file formats, in order that the art editors are able to adjust the image resolution to the visual printing need of the magazine. Basically, in terms of composition structure, the technical article should contain: title, names of the authors, respective universities or companies, definition and contact email of the corresponding author, abstract, up to 5 keywords, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, acknowledgements (when applicable), and bibliographic references. The units and measures should be expressed in accordance with the International System of Units of Measurement (SI). Important remark: in case there are specificities of researches to be presented in the technical article, the author may format the text in accordance with the need of this presentation of the subject. 

 

Technical article evaluation – flow and term 

As soon as the technical article is sent by the author for publication in O Papel magazine, the process of its assessment is started, the result of which will be informed to the author within a term of up to 2 (two) months. 

The technical articles are evaluated by two specialists in the matter, belonging to the Committee of Technical Works of ABTCP (Brazilian Technical Pulp and Paper Association), who will orient themselves by the following criteria: 

• logical structure (well-defined goals, coherent organization, conciseness, clarity, and consistency of conclusions, bibliography); 

• technical and scientific quality (definition of the problem, conclusions reached from technical data, description of characteristics); and 

• applicability (contribution of the research to the sector and benefits generated to the industry/process). 

The articles recommended for publication, after contingent corrections by the author(s), when there are such by suggestion of the evaluators, will be published according to the schedule of O Papel magazine. The author will be informed prior to publishing the article.

Important: For submitting a technical article at www.opapel.org.br/artigostecnicos, the author must be registered. If not yet registered, just click at “New Authors”, and fill in the form. After the registration, it will be allowed to submit the paper and follow the evaluation process.
